Ocean Zen and Bliss - Wish You Were Here...

Hello and welcome. I'm excited to share today's card which has been created as part of the Sketchy Boards Challenge that I am a new design team member for. It's hosted and organised by the lovely Heidi Williams and is a fun group of ladies who share the love of scrapbooking and papercrafting on the Facebook page.

There is a new challenge at the beginning of each month and here is January's challenge. The theme is 'Use your Stash'. Although the sketch looks like a scrapbook layout, you can create anything your heart desires as long as it incorporates some of the elements in the sketch. Please click here to enter and inbox your entries.

For my card I have used a couple of fun sets from Honey Bee Stamps, the cute mermaid from Ocean Bliss with the Wish You Were Here sentiment and the gorgeous ocean motif background with sea life from Ocean Zen. The picture frame is from Lawn Fawn, Say Cheese Again metal dies that adds that cute photo frame touch.

Both sets are just amazing and compliment each other. The details in the illustrations are just exquisite.  They're also a lot of fun to colour in and would look great in any medium. I have used Copic markers for quick colouring with some ombre tones.

The large Ocean Zen background has been white heat embossed with ink blending resist done with Ranger distress inks, Peacock Feathers, Cracked Pistachio, Dried Marigold and Tumbled Glass. Love this colour combination for that beach, seaside theme.

The images have been cut out with an electronic cutter with the exception of the photo frame which I used the Lawn Cuts Say Cheese Again from Lawn Fawn. Both the Honey Bee Stamps sets used have coordinating dies that makes it easier to die cut out. Yes even the word here has it's own die cut,  that makes it even more dynamic to create a stunning sentiment piece.

Adding vellum behind the photo frame is a subtle way to soften the background without covering the lovely background. It has been die cut twice adding thickness and stands out better.

Here is the inside of the card done in a ombre effect stamping and you can see how gorgeous the Ocean Zen stamp really is. It's a large stamp too with so many amazing aquatic life included.

I hope you have enjoyed and found inspiration. I would love for you join in this month's Sketchy Boards challenge using the fun sketch and to Use your stash in a fun and creative way. Thank you so much for stopping by, until next time - Happy Crafting! :)
